When Laughing Hands disbanded in 1983 a large proportion of their work was destroyed. Over the following year much that remained was damaged or mislaid. In order to compile this reissue a search was undertaken to locate the original masters. Individual tracks were recovered from a variety of sources, some from the original vinyl pressings, some coaxed from near ruined quater inch tape. Where necessary enhancement has been used to match the diversity of sources.

Ironically, while this search established the loss or destruction of so much known material it also uncovered a number of unknown, unreleased pieces of great interest. We hope to make these available in the future and to provide a more complete picture of this eclectic body of work.
